Welcome!
Where am I from?
My name is Micaela Verrelien. I am born in Boston Massachusetts and raised in Brockton Massachusetts. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, with a BA in accounting and MIS (Managerial Information Systems). I decided to major in accounting because I wanted aid on understanding how to financially manage a successful business. There is a lot of work that goes into not only starting a business but successfully owning one. I always wanted to own a business or multiple. I come from a big family and a single parent household. We were never poor but we were also never rich. As the youngest of five I had a lot of time to observe my older brothers and sisters. I learned from each of them and that has allowed me to be the strong women that I am today.
How did you end up in New York?
My father passed away when I was 12 years old and 11 years later I am still recovering. After graduating University, I knew there was more in store for me than a small city in Massachusetts. I sing, dance, act, and I love performing on a stage. Many people who have known me for years do not know I can sing or act or even dance. However, I can do them all but of course I am stronger in selected areas. In order to be great, I asked myself where do you want to go if not stay in Massachusetts? I wanted to move to L.A. but I knew New York would make me tougher. I needed to learn more about my craft and move to a place that only the best make it out. New York is feeling more like home away from home each day.
Where did you learn about Fashion?
I fell in love with fashion when I was about 12 years old. I was in junior high school and my father had just passed away. I used fashion as a way of expression. As I got older, I begin to view fashion magazines a bit closer, but I never used trends as a statement of what to where. I truly believe that fashion is a way to express oneself. Wearing a back-lace dress will always make a women feel sexy. If sexy was how she wanted to feel than a nice back-lace dress can do that! Self expression is what I feel I’ve been fighting for my entire life. As the youngest of five, my opinion unfortunately, never mattered too much in my household. Fashion gave me a voice! Fashion is something that I will always love and will forever be a passion of mine.
